ECUADOR
As our organization has continued to evolve, our work in Ecuador has given us insight into more deficiencies in the healthcare system when trying to provide care to rural communities.
While we have treated over 2,200 patients and completed over 30 surgeries, the paper-based system of record keeping has been insufficient, and the need to track patients with different conditions has been difficult.
That is why we are in the process of building a health information system to connect local nonprofits so that accurate patient record keeping can improve, thus improving the overall care of these populations.
As we continue to recruit physicians and healthcare professionals to deliver care to these communities, we are raising money to build a digital health information system so that organizations on the ground can keep track of the patients that they treat. We recently piloted the first version of TrekCollect in August of 2019 and were able to record information for over 200 patients. The first version of the system is below:
As we raise money for a robust system, we have mocked up a demo of what the final version would look like:
